The best ghost stories don’t have ghosts in them
Since this project is mixed media, I would love to include my Sylvanian figures in it since I’ve recently got back into collecting them. A half stop motion, half story video game style could be really interesting to work with.
This animation by Surdi0scen on YouTube is a really good reference. It takes the story of Spottedleaf, a character from the children’s book series ‘Warriors’ and gives her a posessive love of another character, Fireheart/Firestar (which is a popular alternate storyline among fans). We see her thoughts and feeling in an old videogame style, and even without reading the books and engaging in fan content the sense of foreboding and wrongness is still there.
Another good reference is the video game ‘MAZM Jekyll and Hyde’. I adore The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde with all my heart and a am huge fan of this game.

The survival-horror game ‘House’ is another excellent reference. It’s a puzzle game with a great deal of suspense and unexpected happenings.
